CUPERTINO, CALIFORNIA / RankWire.AI / – Apple has announced the launch of the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, featuring upgraded camera hardware, faster processing capabilities, and longer-lasting batteries. This data is processed into a reference image using Private Cloud Compute, which can then be compared within the Photos app to detect any visible modifications. Apple also plans to introduce SynthID support later in 2026. Variable aperture offers new control options for iPhone photography
The A20 Pro chip is built with a 2-nanometer manufacturing process and includes a six-core CPU along with a seven-core GPU. Apple states that the GPU provides performance that is up to 40% faster than the A19 Pro. The chip also features a Dual 16-core Neural Engine with a total of 32 cores. Its thermal system has been redesigned, placing the processor closer to a larger vapor chamber, which now has three times the surface area of the previous version. According to Apple, this design enables up to 40% higher sustained performance.
Battery enhancements are most notable in the eSIM-only versions, which utilize space that was previously dedicated to a physical SIM tray. The iPhone 18 Pro offers up to 36 hours of video playback during testing, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max can last up to 45 hours. Wired charging can bring the Pro model to 50% in roughly 15 minutes. eSIM-only variants will debut in Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE, among other markets.
iOS 27 introduces Siri AI and enhanced Apple Intelligence features
Both the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max operate on iOS 27 and support the latest Apple Intelligence capabilities. Siri AI enters beta on September 14 for compatible devices configured in English. Support for French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish will follow in October. Siri AI can utilize personal context from messages, emails, and photos to respond to requests and can also act on information displayed on the screen. Cloud-based tasks supported by Private Cloud Compute, whereas other Apple Intelligence features operate directly on the device.
The starting price for the iPhone 18 Pro in the United States is $1,199, with the Pro Max beginning at $1,299. Customers can choose storage options of 256GB, 512GB, 1TB, or 2TB. The phones are available in black, silver, glacier, and burgundy. Preorders open at 5 a.m. Pacific Time on September 12, and sales will commence on September 18 in over 65 countries and regions. An additional 20 markets will join the rollout on September 25, expanding the reach of Apple’s latest Pro lineup.
